Oaxaca International Book Fair (known as the FILO from its Spanish acronym) is one of the most important literary events in Mexico and the most treasured festival promoting reading in Latin America. It includes writers, illustrators, journalists, storytellers, musicians, stage and visual artists, publishers, booksellers and distributors; active agents of the cultural life formed from a diverse variety of territories.
Through the Fair’s program, it seeks to generate first-rate literary content, promote social reflection, providing specialized activities for each unique audience, as well as offering professional development for those who work with books and the written word. All this comes with the implicit task of encouraging reading for the benefit of the city’s inhabitants, by approaching literature in all its forms of expression.
FILO is preparing this 2020 to celebrate its 40th edition. Over four decades the FILO has become a forum for interaction, reflection and recreation, taking literature as its starting point.
